10 Days/9 Nights of Uganda Safari, Chimp & Gorilla Trek

 

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to hotel

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to the hotel for overnight stay.

Overnight: Hotel No. 5 (Boutique hotel)

Meal Plan: Bed & Breakfast

 

Day 2: Entebbe – Transfer to Kibale via Fort Portal town

Have breakfast then immediately depart for Kibale to arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon is spent on leisure or guided walks.

Overnight: Kyaninga Lodge/Kibale Forest Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 3: Kibale – Chimpanzee Tracking

Have an early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for the chimpanzee briefing by the forest guide. You will locate the chimps by listening for their pant-hooting calls, then hustle to the area from which they are calling. You will also see the Black and White Colobus monkeys, Black faced Red Colobus, Red Tailed Monkeys, Olive Baboons and an incredible array of bird life, including the Great Blue Turaco. Afternoon is spent in the camp relaxing.

Overnight: Kyaninga Lodge/Kibale Forest Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 4: Kibale – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have a game drive while entering the park. Animals like leopards, warthogs, antelope species, lions, buffaloes, hyenas, and elephants. Afternoon is spent on leisure.

Overnight: Mweya Safari Lodge/Bush Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth – Game drive and afternoon boat ride

After a cup of coffee, for an early morning game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queens mile in the park. You will see lions, elephants, cape buffalos, warthogs, spotted hyenas, mongoose, waterbucks, Kobs and many more. Drive back to the lodge for lunch. Have lunch and later proceed for the launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Different animals that come to drink water at the channel and water birds will be viewed along the shores.

Overnight: Mweya Safari Lodge/Bush Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth – Transfer to Ishasha sector of the park

Have breakfast then depart for Ishasha. You will get a chance to see tree-climbing lions among other wildlife hosted in the area.

Overnight: Ishasha Wilderness Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 7: Ishasha – Transfer to Bwindi

Have an early breakfast then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National park found in the southern part of the country. On your arrival, you will relax at the lodge as you prepare for the gorilla tracking the next day.

Note: The lodge can organize a tour to the community for Batwa Experience at an extra small fee.

Overnight: Mahogany Springs or Buhoma Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 8 & 9: Bwindi – Tracking Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi National Park

Another highlight of your safari: a meeting with the gentle giants of Bwindi! Especially hikers will love the tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. It is difficult to foresee how many hours you will hike, it may take 3 to 8 hours. Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorilla. But it will be worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest. A unique and unforgettable experience!

You will carry packed lunch on this day from the lodge.

Note: For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour.

The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these giant apes. After trekking, you will return to the lodge for relaxation.

 

You will only have 1 track and the other day is spent exploring the community living in the area. Activities include Batwa experience, guided forest walk and a visit to a local school. All these are at extra costs and can be organized by the lodge.

Day 10: Bwindi – Transfer to Entebbe by flight

After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe.  Flight departs at 9.45a.m. to arrive at 11.25a.m. Connect with afternoon flight to Nairobi or your home country
