Wildlife watchers’ best time trip is the dry season (June to October). The great wildebeest migration tramples the plains in June and July. In late January or February, predators are seen in action. Its annual rains season, the hiatus as the wildebeests calve.

The Beauty and Fame of Serengeti

Serengeti ranks second in the world as host of the most significant terrestrial mammal migration, making it an African Natural Wonder and a world natural travel wonder. The annual migration of white-bearded wildebeest, zebra, honey badger, and several Nile crocodile makes it famous. You can spot these herds if you are there on time, migrating from Serengeti to Masai Mara Reserve.

It’s the perfect place to observe a large lion population within their natural environment.  Several large mammal and various bird species are found here. The high density is made possible by diverse habitats, including woodlands, kopjes, swamps, riverine forests, and grasslands. Serengeti has a grassland Savannah with a mixture of rolling grassland landscapes and beautiful dots of thorny bushes and acacia trees.

Ecology

Besides the great migration, Serengeti has abundant large predators. The ecosystem has been home to several lions, spotted hyenas (Crocuta crocuta), African leopards, and East African cheetah. There are relatively scarce wild dogs.

Serengeti is home to diverse grazers like the African elephant, Cape buffalo, topi, Grant’s gazelle, warthog, waterbuck, and eland. Serengeti remarkably supports these grazers as each species has a different diet. Over 80% of Serengeti is a protected area by Kenya and Tanzania Governments that includes game reserves, national parks, and conservation areas.

Serengeti Park is a Unesco World Heritage Site offering top-class viewing of wildlife throughout the year. All main safari animals occur in large numbers. All the big 5 can be seen easily. The big cats and several predators can be spotted in the morning.

Details & Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Transfer to Serengeti (By flight)

You will be picked from your Arusha hotel and be transferred to the Arusha airport for your flight to Serengeti. Upon landing in the wild, you will be met by camp’s driver who will drive you to the camp with an introductory game drive en route. Arrive for lunch at the camp/lodge which is followed by relaxation by the pool area. Later there will be another game drive at 4 p.m. till 6 p.m.
Overnight: Serengeti Pioneer or Migration Camp
Meals: Lunch & Dinner

Day 2 & 3: Serengeti–Full day

Spend these 2 whole days with full-day game drives in search of the big five and many other wildlife that inhabits this beautiful savannah plains. There will be picnic lunch in the course of the day.
Alternatively, have morning & afternoon game drives
Optional activities: Hot air balloon
Overnight: Serengeti Pioneer or Migration Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4: Serengeti – Transfer to Arusha (By flight)

Have another morning game drive after breakfast ay you head to the airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. Upon landing, our driver will pick you and be dropped at your hotel.
