3 Day Samburu Road Safari Overview
Day 1
Early in the morning, usually at 6 or 7, you are picked up from your location or an agreed location by the company safari tour van.
On the way, you will enjoy a variety of views, from the city to plantations, mountainous and flatlands. You will take a break during the first 2 hours of the journey on a location with luscious green trees. To your advantage, you can use this time for a bathroom break or stretch your body.
Next stop would be at the equator in Nanyuki. Here you will get to learn how water spins clockwise at the Northern side of the Equator and counter-clockwise on the Southern side. At this point, there is approximately 1h 30 minutes remaining in your journey.
Finally, you arrive at the Samburu National Reserve gate in which you will drive through and arrive at your wanted destination. Accommodation at the Samburu gives you thrill and adventure of being one with nature. At arrival you will check in, freshen up, have a snack then embark on the evening game drive.
Here you come across animals like the Elephant, Grevy’s Zebra, Deers, Reticulated Giraffe, Leopards, Rothchild Giraffe, Oryx, and a variety of many other animals. A significant benefit to you is being able to enjoy the beauty of the sunset.
As the darkness creeps in, you head back to your respectable lodges and enjoy delectable meals with local and international options. After this, you’re able to retire to your tents with a bright day ahead of you the next day.
Day 2
At the break of dawn, one should be up and ready for a full day game drive. At round 6:30 am, you board the van and begin the journey. If your lucky enough, you can see a lioness devour her prey up close. You also see Lions, Cheetah, more Elephants and come across some Giraffes.
At mid-day, you stop at a suitable location to have packed lunch. After that, you will continue and get to see the rare gerenuk or get a glimpse of the gently flowing Uaso Nyiro river. At the end of the day, you are again blessed with the sight of the sun setting beyond the horizon line.
After a long tiresome day, you head back to the lodges and freshen up. As it is your last night, a bush dinner bonfire is set up for you by the lodges staff. During the night you do all sorts of activities from listening to Samburu stories and learning about their culture, to dancing and jumping as high as you can reach.
On top of all that you get to taste mouth water meals that make your knees go weak from just a whiff. After all the excitement and fun, one retires to bed for they have a long journey back the next day.
Day 3
You wake up to birds chirping, showing that it is time to head out. You will freshen up, pack your belongings for check out before breakfast. Make sure that you don’t leave anything. Head for breakfast and enjoy the last meal in Samburu. After breakfast head out for a comfortable 5h 30 min journey back to Nairobi. On the way out, you are greeted by the animals, for they certainly enjoyed your company.
